I was born in Holland, brought into the world by my mother who is born and raised in Holland and my father who is born and raised in Chile. My father was a young adult at the time Salvador Allende was the president of Chile. Allende expropriated landowners and redistributed the land to agricultural laborers. They received a piece of land, a house, and the children had the opportunity to go to school. My father was an agricultural engineer and cooperated in this. It was part of his fight against injustice and inequality.

But, on the 11th of September 1973, general Pinochet seized power and my father was taken from his home and, like many other political opponents, imprisoned.

Eventually my father was able to flee to the Netherlands.
Here he has built a new life.
He had 2 daughters, and he told us his stories.
And we grew up with his past.

This solo is dedicated to my father, and in tribute to all the lives they have extinguished just for asking for dignity.
